{"id":108,"date":"2009-07-26T01:00:07","date_gmt":"2009-07-26T01:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kevinkgipson.com\/?p=108"},"modified":"2009-07-26T01:00:07","modified_gmt":"2009-07-26T01:00:07","slug":"myth-no-3-credit-card-debts-can-no-longer-be-discharged-in-a-bankruptcy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kevinkgipson.com\/?p=108","title":{"rendered":"Myth No. 3:  Credit Card Debts Can No Longer Be Discharged In A Bankruptcy."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the misconceptions some clients have is\u00a0that credit card debts can no longer be discharged in a Bankruptcy.<\/p>\n<p>This myth comes from changes in the Bankruptcy Code from when the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA) was enacted in October 2005.<\/p>\n<p>As part of BAPCPA, a fairly small percentage of people filing for bankruptcy that could have filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy and gotten rid of their credit card debt under the old law now\u00a0had to pay some percentage of their credit card debt in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy.<\/p>\n<p>For most people, BAPCPA made no change for them and they\u00a0are still allowed to file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy and get rid of their credit card debt.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the misconceptions some clients have is\u00a0that credit card debts can no longer be discharged in a Bankruptcy.
